Luiz Carlos Zanette, 72, runs Sítio Serra e Leite in Poços de Caldas, South of Minas Gerais — one of Brazil's rare volcanic soil regions, three hours from São Paulo. The property has been in his family for over a century, since his grandparents left Italy for Brazil and began farming land that had never been cultivated. Luiz's father worked the coffee from childhood. Since the beginning, the family has grown specialty coffee, choosing quality over yield. This is a light roast, natural-processed single origin with notes of peanut butter, brown sugar, and baking spices.
Heart it if you’d brew it, or pass.
