The selection from Karindundu is complex and juicy with a wide range of fruit flavors and a buttery finish. On the first sip we’re tasting tropical fruit with fresh papaya as a standout. As the cup cools the acidity pushes forward with notes of wild strawberry, green papaya, and kiwi fruit. The complex fruit notes are supported by a white wine juiciness that carries a buttery note, reminding us of a bright Chardonnay. The Karindundu coffee factory is located 1 km from Karatina in the Nyeri district. It supports 513 coffee farmers, with nearly one third being women. These producers grow a mix of crops alongside coffee, with the average farm consisting of only 300 coffee trees on an half acre plot. The mill provides educational support for its members and operates a demonstration plot to teach and explore proper methods.
Heart it if you’d brew it, or pass.
Karindundu - Kenya | Gold Label is a high-acidity coffee from Nyeri, Kenya. Acidity means a bright, lively taste, not a sour cup. The wild strawberry note is part of that brightness.
Karindundu - Kenya | Gold Label breaks down as fruity and winey.
Fruity×3
papaya, wild strawberry, kiwi
Ripe fruit. Berries and stone fruit taste juicy and sweet, not sharp.
Winey×1
chardonnay
Fermented fruit. It leans toward wine or dried fruit, with a longer, tangy finish.
