Barinas is named for the family farm where this coffee is grown, whose story begins in 1820 with the arrival of Mrs. Theodora Jacinta and family in Araxá. In 1950, Alberto Castro Alves began planting coffee, becoming one of the pioneers of the region. The family faced a severe setback in 1975 when a hard frost burned every plant, but the passion for coffee brought Barinas back to become the model it is today. This lot is Topazio, a cross of Mundo Novo and Yellow Catuai, valued for high productivity and even cherry maturation. This coffee opens with milk chocolate and vanilla, balanced by rich toffee sweetness and a bright dried orange finish.
Heart it if you’d brew it, or pass.
